Q. What can we expect when shipping our puppy?
A. Good Question. And this will be a long answer... Airlines have strict regulations and requirements now a days. It depends on where the puppy is going as to what needs to be followed. In all cases, the puppy must have a proper crate for flying. It is easiest that we purchase the crate for you to be sure we have the proper size and quality of crate.
We will then talk with the airlines to find the fastest most comfortable flight for your puppy. We try hard to make it a non stop or minimal stop and the lease amount of time from start to finish for your puppy. We fly the puppies out of the Medford or Portland Oregon airports. They will fly to your closest CARGO airport.
CARGO is not baggage claim. Some airlines will allow a pet to be delivered after hours though baggage claim but many will not. CARGO means that you will need to find the CARGO offices for that particular airline. It sometimes means not even the same complex.
Your puppy is required to have two bowls attached to the crate and bones and toys are not allowed in the crate anymore. We normally will place ice cubes in the bowls for water during the trip.
Your puppy is required to be fed prior to the flight and will not be fed until you pick your puppy up. We will attach a bag of food to the crate.
Your puppy comes with the collar and tags (on the puppy) and a leash (attached to the crate).
You must have photo ID to pick up the puppy. This means we will need to have all your correct information to give to the airlines prior to shipping the puppy up.
Your puppy will be tired, a little frightened and most likely will need to potty after such a flight. (see next question for details)
